Fresh flyer fo fans.
Thursday, February 05, 2004
Mantleofbeez.com may have featured on the flyer for last night's Dublin Castle gig, but I need to get something clear. We are still 100% unofficial, still 100% impartial, still 100% fans of the world's greatest unsigned band.
Having said that, last night's gig was awe inspiring. The band set out to "rock your f***ing socks off", and I was blown away, socks and all. As widely predicted this second London outing saw fans treated to a preview of the new darker material. The new tracks were a cross genre melange of metal, hardcore, and deep deep drum 'n' bass.
Charlie commands the sampler like no-one else, in a way reminiscent of Mario Caldato Jnr. His beats and breaks fuse seamlessly with Spence's genius guitar work. Together they form the perfect sonic backdrop for the sharpest lyrics this side of Staten Island.
The classic tracks were also rolled out, richer than ever. The performance was an unstoppable barrage of explosive beats, and the Dublin Castle crowd responded to every nuance. The Bristol jungle massive were representing, and tore up the dancefloor with their westside moves.
This gig was one continuous highlight, every song outstanding. But best of all? Just 18 short days until the next live show.
